The most noticeable features of Zasume are his hair and eyes, which are both generally the same color. Some say it was coincidence, and other say he was born with these features on purpose. Zasume's hair sometimes covers one of his eyes, so his gaze is both intriguing and ominous. His body is pretty well toned from years of spiritual and physical training. Zasume is usually seen wearing a collared jacket of some sort, and he prefers the colors red, black, and the contradictory white. He wears civilian pants for the most part, but he will part with his normality for silk. He wears strapped boots for footwear and stability, both for combat and comfortable walking. Although his brother, Ryumo, is younger, they both bear quite a similar resemblance when looked at closely.

Overall Personality;Zasume is a very spiritual man. He has found many instances of inner peace even while fighting away the graphic memories of his past works and deeds. His disposition may seem opposing at first, but Zasume is a very intellectual individual who knows when to hold his tongue. He can be very friendly at times, and other times he can be.....very cold. Zasume has always been talented in bending, long before his brother Ryumo even began to learn the various techniques. He has learned to control his skills not just based on physical limit, but spiritual limit. Meditative tactics have led to Zasume's stabilization of mind, body, and spirit. Still, he is attacked by memories of his past....and they continue to torment him...until he finds Ryumo.
History InfoHome Country; Fire Nation
siblings; Younger brother Ryumo, deceased younger sister, Mika
history;Zasume was a dedicated child, destined for academic greatness. His skills in literature and arts were superior and unlike any other in his class. With his father being his teacher, Zasume was ever studious on his quest to be the best. At the age of 12, his brother Ryumo was born. This was a time of joy, for many received this new birth as a sign of more greatness and reward in the Quan bloodline. Zasume himself was a bit excited that he would receive a sibling that would rival the likes of himself. He nurtured his brother and treated him just as he would treat any child of that age. As Ryumo grew, Zasume soon grew distant from his family. His spirit was unsettled and he was tired of leading his life as an unauthoritative figure. He then chose to fully seperate himself fully from his family and village. After the desertion at age 15, Zasume joined the Shinto, a ruthless local gang that led the black market of the village in which the Quan family resided. To earn his place and respect within the gang, Zasume performed actions unheard of in the village such as mass robberies, kidnappings and torture, and finally murder.
Zasume's repetitive actions led to his spirit becoming completely unstabilized. He desired power and he would do anything to get it. The village shaman spoke of these horrors performed by Zasume and the rest of the members of the Shinto. No one believed the shaman truly until a public message was sent: the shaman was killed by Zasume himself. Almost a decade later, Zasume's gruesome actions led to him being promoted as the undisputed leader of the Shinto. His plans for dominance began immediately. In order for the Shinto to send a message to other territories, something very large must take place. And Zasume knew just what to do. Along with his gang, Zasume performed what some could call a mass killing spree, destroying anyone and anything in his path....even his family.
After unmercifully slaughtering his father, mother, and younger sister Mika, Zasume's sadistic actions were hesitant when he was presented with younger brother; the last of the Quan family other than himself. Even after the blood that had been repeatedly spilled on his hands, he could not bring himself to truly kill his younger brother. So he left his brother with something that would last forever and surely bring them together again: a scar. Locating a non-fatal part of the stomach, Zasume stabbed Ryumo. The wound was large, but it would heal over time. His heart twinged as he and his brother locked eyes and time seemed to slow. As Ryumo slumped to the floor, Zasume turned his head and gave a weak smile.
"You're still my brother," he whispered lowly before Ryumo fell unconscious.
After burning a majority of the village, Zasume set off to gain more territorial space. Eliminating other possible threats such as other gangs and small militaries seemed like a vital option, and so Zasume did as such. Over twelve gangs in the Fire Nation were completely wiped out by the Shinto and the name of the majority gang was said widely and casually. So much, in fact, that they were named a threat to the Fire Nation Army. After a demonstration of power by the Fire Nation, a large portion of the Shinto was killed, but Zasume refused to be moved. He settled for the southern regions of the Fire Nation to select various territories that he knew he could conquer.
Zasume was successful in his prideful gestures and his threats against others began to cease. There was no needs for threats, because it seemed as if Zasume had actually won. He decided to call a period of peace between himself and the surrounding nation so that he could celebrate privately with some of his members. Although his victories were numerous, Zasume's disposition began to break down. His sadistic attitude began to deteriorate and soon his spirit was unsettled with guilt. The blood of hundreds, thousands even, rested unpeacefully in his hands. ON top of that, word had spread that his younger brother Ryumo had been looking for him. To kill him. This did not surprise Zasume. It was a perfectly natural reaction, and he chose to accept it. During his period of celebration, Ryumo invaded the Shinto territory, killing many members unrelentlessly out of the desire to end his older brother's life. Zasume sat patiently in a safe house, drowning out the screams of his fellow members. The time for the two brothers to meet was approaching very quickly.
The confrontation began. The two brothers stared at each other for a brief moment, surprised at how the other had grown. As brothers, the spark of love within them both was always present. But you can't change the past. But Ryumo was determined to change the future. The two brothers battled intensely, trading blows and techniques unlike any other. The blows were heard from a distance and the amount of bloodshed was immense. It covered the floor and terrain between them both, and still the two brethren refused to stop or back down.
Zasume and Ryumo faced each other. Tired, weary, brutalized, and bloodied. And still, the battle for life and dominance continued. In the midst of the battle, Zasume determined that he would not kill his brother. But they would have to part for a while. He purposefully withheld a blow that could have potentially killed Ryumo and let himself be once again brualized by a powerful blast of continuous flame from Ryumo. Zasume immediately let loose a burst of flame from his body that covered his entire being, a technique practiced but not perfected. It gave Ryumo the illusion of his brother being burned alive. Ryumo had "won."
After Ryumo had left, Zasume groaned aloud at the wounds inflicted to his body. He had to leave. The reign of the Shinto had ended, which actually relieved Zasume. This gave Zasume an opportunity for independence. A time for a change.
Over the course of another decade, Zasume led a simple life that pleased him in the newly changed Fire Nation: The Burning Legion. Spiritually, he was a totally changed man. Every aspect of life that he could understand was understood, and yet he still searched for more. At the age of 30, he met a woman that he believed to be the love of his life. Ayame. His perfect flower that bloomed every day. Zasume's image of perfection. He planned to spend the rest of his life with her. Until she fell ill. The opening of the Spirit Rift upset the balance ofher spiritual balance. The reaction affected her body negatively, and was literally "sucking the life out of her." Eventually, the future wife of Zasume died. This left a large hole in Zasume's heart. The loss of his brother and love. Unless....he didn't lose his brother. After a period of grief, Zasume finally determined that he would do something was incredibly deadly. He would seek out his brother, who was apparently some sort of officer or leader in the Plains near the capital of the Burning Legion. Maybe the hope of reconcilitation was not lost, and the time for reunionization was here. Or maybe the memories of a dark past would affect both of the brothers just as they had in the past.
Other StuffsZasume keeps a small pendant given to him by Ayama as a promise to fulfill his life.
