Appearance; Far from unattractive Mai-dee doesn't show herself to her best advantage in most cases either. Usually she wears the thick makeup of the Kyoshi Warriors and their uniform, at least while practicing; otherwise she can be found in a light kimono cut to give her easy maneuverability with a long, red obi cinching her around the middle. Tall like most of her sister warriors her proportions are otherwise reasonable though she tends toward appearing more wiry than muscular. Her long black hair is bound into a braid when she's sparring but otherwise hangs loosely around her head, reaching to her waist. Her eyes are a cool, subdued brown with intelligence but no passion unless she's incited to anger and her skin is just a shade more pale. On her back she always carries her sword and her long sleeves are useful for distractions when fighting with her Bending abilities.

Overall Personality;Rather unlike some of her more boisterous village members, Mai-dee tends to be quiet around those she doesn't know unless her opinion is absolutely required; it's then and only then that she will offer a taciturn and sometimes sarcastic opinion. She does relax around her friends, but only just, and there are less than a handful of people whom she easily trusts. Her demeanor is quiet as well to keep from calling undo attention but she watches everything around her, anticipating every possible move before it comes into play and keeping her cool in most situations.
There are very few things that push the warrior to lose her temper, but once it is tripped she is a cold, ruthless and sharp-tongued opponent who is slow to truly calm; she may appear to relax but she's only plotting the next confrontation. Those she trusts she will fight for unasked and would even put herself in peril for. She and her brother Kan have a sibling-rivalry type relationship but underneath it is a stronger friendship hidden by teasing and sarcastic barbs. Her free time is dedicated to studying both Earthbending and the ways of the Warriors of Kyoshi; she hates boredom and this keeps her from it.
History Info
Home Country; Kyoshi
siblings; Younger brother- Kan
history; Mai-dee was born to a common family of Kyoshi Island; there wasn't much land there, but everyone had their niche and duty and everyone was accepted for who they were. Her mother was a common housewife with a garden; her father a fisherman, and she grew up in a normal home for her environment. After a few years her mother had another child, a boy she named Kan, and due to an infection was unable to have any more children.
Kyoshi Island was much more in touch with tradition than the surrounding mainland and Mai-dee would often watch the repainting and refurbishing of Avatar Kyoshi as well as listening to the tales of her elders. When playing she came up with the most clever plans and was the most agile at climbing trees for nuts and berries, though not always the strongest atswimming, though she knew how. When not playing she would string necklaces of wooden beads to put on Lady Kyoshi's neck during festivals. When not listening to stories, running free or doing the small hobbies she kept as a child she would look after or torment her brother as the mood suited her- though she was careful to never let him fall into any real harm.
Once she was old enough she joined the Kyoshi Warriors and started the most basic training; deeply interested in their ways and the history behind them she became a dedicated student and learned quickly for her age. Not long after she'd made a good impression on her trainers and balanced that with her schoolwork her Bending ability began to manifest as well and her parents found her a village tutor to teach her that as well. Nonchalantly and without any real concern- after all, it was better to be busy than bored- she simply threw herself into everything with equal enthusiasm and enjoyed watching herself grow.
This continued up until the present, when she became a full Kyoshi warrior and her simple tutor told her than there was no more she could learn from him in Bending. Knowing that her skills were still minimal and there would be more advanced masters out in the wider world she contented herself with perfecting what she knew and waiting for more news. News of the lands outside her home spoke of chaos and despair; she knew that there may soon come a time when she'd be called to do her duty, and she awaits it quietly with a quiet flash of readiness in her eyes. She will go wherever she is sent, or stay and defend her home as is necessary for the safety of her people and duty she holds.

It was time for the annual festival again; the elders gathered around the statue of Kyoshi on ladders and repainted her face, her clothing and hair- even the finest details of her eyes and lips. With a half-smile Mai-dee watched them, her clothing reflecting the honorable and auspicious day; her green uniform fit her well and her hair was bound back into a long braid with a headband over it bearing the symbol of the Warriors of Kyoshi, her sword hanging over her shoulder and a fan at her side, her makeup applied just so to reflect her status. Whether or not she was conventionally attractive couldn't have mattered less to her at this point; the Festival mattered a good deal more, and besides, what kind of sense did it make to judge by appearance?
Her sister Warriors were wandering around the square and the town itself, speaking to tourists and among themselves, or occupying themselves with whatever else could be going on, but that wasn't Mai-dee's style. Save for a quick glance around to take stock of the situation she watched the work. When she was too old to fight perhaps it would be a duty handed to her. Then again, with the stories they'd been hearing- perhaps this would be her last Festival-time on the island for a good while. Warriors were being asked to fight against some mysterious enemy plaguing the land and, while she wouldn't leave her home undefended, the idea of exploration was enticing. Finding a more advanced Earthbending teacher would have been good at least.
Shaking her head slightly she drew herself from the distracting thoughts and handed a string of beads, one she'd made herself just as she had since she was a child, to an elder and watched him put it over Kyoshi's neck. For a bare flash her smile slightly widened, then returned to it's normal state and she walked away toward the training house. There would me more to do later.
