The sun was barely up but already she Airbender girl was awake and dressed. In the Western Temple it was part of the normal routine to be out of bed and prepared by dawn and even though the nights here were shorter that didn't set an exception in her mind. If nothing else she'd go to bed earlier but being away after there was light in the sky was nearly impossible. Besides everything else it was when the air seemed the freshest and most cheerful, as though it had just woken up, much like herself.
The trip through the outer islands of the Northern Water Tribe's lands had been interesting even if a bit long at times, but that was to be expected with the sheer magnitude of things to see. Having been raised in a temple and never having gone outside of the outreaching lands everything was new and interesting, though not at all frightening or intimidating. The air was the same, even underneath the change in smell, pattern and temperature; no matter what the air was the air. True that it was colder here, and the wind tended to rise briskly to a harsh temperature before dying with alacrity, but it was the bare element she'd always taken joy in.
Rising silently to keep from waking her traveling companion who slept across the fire she'd picked up her staff and moved toward the nearby riverside, just out of sight from the campsite and over a small ridge. He looked more peaceful when he slept, as though he could ignore the inner tension that strained him so much. What would it be like to have another person in her own mind, and one that disagreed with her nonetheless? The thought consumed her for a moment and she distractedly stepped onto the rocky riverside, keeping her balance easily on the shifting stones, almost as though she was barely touching the ground.
The familiar weight of her dear friend and flying lemur Cai soon found itself on her shoulder and she walked easily, letting the animal nudge her in the right direction to avoid stubbing her toe or stepping into a puddle as she walked; when lost in her own mind Erity could easily find herself forgetting about unimportant things like damp feet in cold weather. She wouldn't die of a cold after all, and it wasn't quite chilly enough to get frostbite- but Kaoru worried, and there was no need to make her friend any more burdened than he already was. Reaching up a hand she patted Cai's fuzzy ears before walking downstream for a time.
The sound of water rushing more quickly over rocks finally drew her back to the real world and she sat down near an unfamiliar flowered bush, looking it over and smelling the blossoms. Sweet, but not too sweet- but were they poisonous? Picking one she peered at it intently, then set it down and crushed it between two stones before picking one up. Sweet, but tart- and non-descript. "Let's not eat these ones until we know for sure," she told Cai before standing again and moving further downstream.
