He has dark brown hair that is wavy when he wakes up, but then stands up into its naturally spiky style. Tomokazu was born blind in his right eye, so he sometimes wears a small patch over the ocular area. He is not ashamed of his partial and literal "blind spot", but its a decision he decided to make. Tomokazu is a very athletic man, so he likes to wears clothes that allow his movement to be extremely fluid. His favorite outfit consists of a black and gold sleeveless top that clings to his body almost like a second skin. The top leads into a long pair of black baggy pants that part at his ankles, again allowing for fluid movement. He wears a patterned robe around his waist as a stylish addition to his outfit, but it is actually rather useful during times such as winter. He can take it off and use it as a cloak if he wishes. Around his waist, he wears a large buckled strap that is used to holster his only two weapons: his katanas. Tomokazu has practiced Niten Ichi, or two swords style, for most of his life and dreams of becoming a master of this difficult style of swordsmanship. While his battles usually only require him to use one of the weapons, he still continues to train with both. At an early age, he named both of them after his orphanage friends: Jentin and Izakari. The two blades are actually different. While they both weigh the same, Jentin's tip is pure obsidian for the sake of penetration during battle. Izakari's edge is simply sharp, as a sword should be. Finally, he wears a black and white headband that was given to him by his masters at the Ba Sing Se Niten Ichi Academy, signifying his experience in the extensive martial arts. He wears the headband at all times except for when he is sleeping because of his pride.

On his journey to join the cause of the warriors currently fighting at the Bulwark, he also seeks to settle down with a new family so that he may forget his brief past as a Earth Kingdom foot soldier. He is only human, so he can be pushed to anger, but he would rather hide his anger than release it through emotions. Instead, he channels this anger into violent energy which helps him during various tasks such as running long distances.

history;Tomokazu Omori Shinya was born to Takei and Asano Shinya as a succesful result of multiple attempts at having a child in Ba Sing Se. His father Takei saw Tomokazu as a gift from the spirit of fertility and he would treat his gift with much respect. But, after Tomokazu's birth, the couple experienced financial troubles that led to a period where even the smallest necessities were hard to achieve. Soon, caring for Tomokazu at such a young age proved to be an incredible burden, and the couple had run out of ideas. The only valuable option was to send Tomokazu to a school where he could easily receive the necessities that a child should. Takei had heard of a formal school that not only taught martial arts, but formal ethics of life that could be considered religious. Tomokazu's mother Asano thought that this was a great idea and agreed to send her son when he turned 7. Until then, Tomokazu led a borderline harsh childhood. There were times where he couldn't eat due to his father and mother's lack of funds, but his love for them never faded. How could you condemn a person who tried their hardest to take care of you as much as possible? His respect for them was well grounded. Tomokazu learned to not think about the trials in front of him, but rather the freedom to come. And then, the time for him finally came. At the solemn and tender age of seven, Tomokazu said goodbye to his mother and father as he was left at the incredibly prestigious school. There, his new life began.
The masters of the school welcomed Tomokazu with open arms, but they reminded him constantly that he will be treated no different than the each other, and this was something that was embedded into his conscience. The Ba Sing Se Niten Ichi Academy's training system consisted of three formal methods. The first method was purely spiritual and it tied in forms of philosophical doctrine with repetitve meditation routines. While this method was a bit strenous, it taught Tomokazu how to channel any of his energy at an early age. The second method involved excessive physical training including Taijutsu martial arts and Niten Ichi sword training. While Taijutsu techniques seemed to come naturally to Tomokazu, the double sword style was difficult at first, especially with him not being able to see out of his right eye. Using one blade to attack and defend was hard enough, let alone holding another blade in his hand. But, as Tomokazu got older, holding two blades became easier as he took his training day by day. He learned that his blind spot was not necessarily a weakness, as it heightened his awareness of his surroundings. Tomokazu began to rely on his ears to determine his movements along with his conscience. The final method of training used at the academy was the simple concept of respect for the earth. Tomokazu was a large believer in the concept of karma, so agreed that treating his home with respect would reap positive benefits in his future. He gained various new friends, the most significant of them being Jentin and Izakari. The three developed an extremely close bond with each other and they were almost never seen without each other. The two gave him the affectionate name Kazunari and it stuck with him.
Tomokazu graduated from the academy at the age of 16 along with Jentin and Izakari and they were recognized as three of the most succesful students to graduate from their academy. They was offered formal positions as credited Niten Ichi instructors, but they respectfully declined. They decided to go their seperate ways to lead their own lives, and each one left on their own path. But, even after his graduation, Tomokazu felt that his skills were not enough. He wanted to do something that would test his skills every single day, relentlessly. His aspiration soon led to him joining the Earth Kingdom army and he became a weapons specialist at the age of 18. War was not something that Tomokazu had in mind, but he had no choice but to face it. As the Burning Legion continued to wipe out the remnants of the previous Fire Nation, he grew to have a distinct distaste in their style of brutality. While he completely agreed with the overthrowing of the Fire Lord, the Burning Legion's tactics disturbed him. It seemed that they simply used the Fire Lord's tactics for their own personal gain.
Soon, various parts of Tomokazu's beautiful world were covered in fire and blood. Thus, his hatred for the element of fire grew. His better knowledge of the respectable element was overtaken by his immature thoughts and he thought of fire as a means of destruction. While he had no choice but to fight alongisde for the Fire Nation, he said nothing as he seethed. The continuous fighting and bloodshed began to take a toll on Tomokazu's personality, and he decided that he would just leave before he would conform to the mentality of so many warriors. He left the Earth Kingdom army with and honorable discharge and returned to his home in Ba Sing Se. Tomokazu's homecoming was not as happy as he would have liked. While he was away fighting in the Earth Kingdom army, the battle was brought to his hometown and mass numbers of citizens were killed...including his parents. Strangely, Tomokazu blamed no specific group for his parent's death, but he did resent the war. He understood that casualties would be present, but he just couldn't understand why HIS parents were apart of the collateral damage. In honor of his parents, he decided to lay down Jentin and Izakari, his blades, and he disclosed himself from the war surrounding him. For two years, Tomokazu led his life in seclusion, completing any jobs that didn't involve fighting or some form of violence. Surprisingly, it was a bit hard, so Tomokazu had to actually search for reasonable tasks.
Word had spread to Ba Sing Se of the opening of the Spirit Rift, which upset Tomokazu's own spirit greatly. He instinctively closed his heart and mind to the very idea of going to the Bulwark to help defend the world. But better judgement caught ahold of him. It was his world, and he knew that he would do anything to defend it an anyone in it. He hesitantly picked up his blades and began training for a 7 month period before he felt that he was ready to travel to the Bulwark alongside the very people he disliked: The Burning Legion. Inside, he knew that he would have to unify with them and others at some point to save his home. Now, it was necessary. Tomokazu prayed for the first time in a long time before he left on his journey to the Bulwark. He prayed that his aspirations would be easily shared and his skills would not prove to be in vain.
