The city was crowded, it made the air bender boy wonder if any one ever slept in the city. Even now in the dead of night there were still people up and wandering the street, either as couples or just out for a midnight stroll. Using his air bending he jumped onto the roof of a near by building and sat down on the edge of it, at least he wasn't alone, right? He watched the people below go about their nightly business. So much was changing lately, there was a big war going on, people were becoming more hostile toward on another. This made him wonder when it was going to stop.
He continued to sit quietly and just watch, there wasn't much he could do, as a nomad he did not attach himself to places like most people did. This made it difficult to make friends, the few that he had made had not tried to get in contact with him and even made the effort to pretend they were not home when he could hear them in the background telling each other to stay quiet.
What was the world coming to?

"Dartan! Come on boy, I want to go home BEFORE the sun rises..." The shop keeper called out to the young Earthbender as he quickly finished cleaning up the back area, throwing the broom to the ground and ran out of the store.
"Sorry..." He said with a sheepish smile as the shop keeper frowned.
"Be here at sunrise, understand boy?" The shop keeper said and Dartan replied with a nod. The shop keeper then motioned for Dartan to leave.
It was a nice night tonight. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. He figured he'd pay another visit to the Crystal Catacombs to explore a bit more, heading down the street to the spot where he usually entered the catacombs from. As he did, he accidently bumped into someone, staggering a little from it.
"Oh crap, I'm so sorry! Are you ok?" He asked the stranger.

Keala remained silent until some noise sounded in the street just below him. Looking down he witnessed a teen not paying attention and bumping into some big burly guy who didn't look too pleased. The guy didn't smell too good either and from the looks of it he had just gotten done with a heavy work out. Keala smiled a bit and couldn't help but laugh a little as the taller, sweaty adult told the kid off before storming away. He found it funny but also a relief that there wasn't a fight. He remained seated on the roof and watched perhaps the night wasn't going to be as boring as he thought it would be. Than again it was kind of hard to bore the airbender.
He finally decided to jump down, using his airbending to cushion his landing. Holding his staff behind him he smiled "watching where you are going would be helpful." he said, not vindictive or seriously but more of a friendly gesture and advice. "I've seen people like that guy get homicidal over less."

(I am SO sorry for taking so long... blame the broken leg  ) Dartan watched as the man he had bumped into got upset with him, yelling at him in a disapproving manner and walked off in a fit of rage. Dartan simple stood there, raising a brow as the man walked off. "Wow... What a jerk..." Dartan said to himself as he turned around to walk away, only to have someone just fall out of the sky in front of him. Dartan jumped back, a bit shocked from the sudden appearance of the Airbender as he composed himself quickly. The Airbender proceeded to speak, telling Dartan that he should be careful as men like that tended to get more angry over lesser things. Dartan simply smiled and nodded. "Um... Thanks for that..." He said as he watched the young man with a curious smile. "So, you were watching me or something?" He asked the Airbender. |
