Founded countless years ago by the Avatar Kyoshi, the island has stood unconquered and unrepressed by any malicious force for the simple reason of its being so small and holds relatively no strategic importance. Sitting now, so far removed from the Earth Kingdom, the island has but to fend for itself and against the Allied Earth States to the north, resistance would only mean certain death. For the moment, however, the only invaders they have to fear, apart from the Southern Water Tribe's forces, are tourists as they always have. So instead, with the Kyoshi Warriors as their only real protection from the world, they sit undisturbed as always in the ocean, hoping to remain neutral and ultimately undisturbed.
