The sea seemed to be the only calm thing anymore. With the right directions planned out, a person could go their whole life not even thinking about the wars or even the stupid military. Despite being a man of the sea, Kaoru eventually needed to find a place to dock and the only place to do that was Chameleon Bay. With how many visits he paid to this place, he almost wanted to set up a semi-permanent home, but there were still places to travel and people to help. After all, it wasn't every day that an unbiased healer would come around and there were far too many that could use that sort of help. But every so often, he just needed a break. A place for him to restock his supplies and maybe rest on a steady bed.
Managing a decent spot at the docks, Kaoru tied off his boat and grabbed a small satchel along with enough fish to buy him a meal or two, lodging for the evening and supplies before his next stop. Everyone in this bay seemed so at ease with everything, both a blessing and a curse. The way things were, it was only a matter of time before this place became as broken and damaged as the rest of the world. Living life in the now was more difficult than it ever was, but he tried as much as he could to socialize with strangers and try to find what little good there was left.

Kazuma floated. Simply floated. Letting his body freely drift in the bay that was at the brink of Earth Kingdom territory. He loved the water, the feel of it against his skin, almost as thought it was flowing through him rather then over him.
He would often come here to heal his wounds. Not just physical but emotional and mental as well. The Bulwark was somewhere that no one should ever take lightly. Kazuma had seen plenty of men come through there with big words and muscles, but leave something less. Half the man he was when he showed up. Broken by the terrors of the Rift. Now himself, he had thought he had seen everything. Every nightmare, ever ghoul and every goblin the world had thrown at him and he other men of the Bulwark. But he was always proved wrong in so many situations. That's when the screams came back. Filling his heads with delusions and lies of the dead, blaming him for their deaths and demanding to know why he did not save them.
His eyes shot open after his ears had had enough. His breathing had become unnaturally heavy. He gasped at the air around him as he floated effortlessly. "dammit...." he swore to himself knowing he had fallen asleep again. Rubbing his eyes that had shown obvious clues of sleep deprivation. That's when a shadow started covering him. "Odd....there are no clouds in the sky...." he thought. That's when he was smacked in the head by a boat coming through to dock. "blg...ghhhgg...." he bubbled under water as he was taken underneath it tumbling off the bottom then coming up the other side just as the guy manning the boat had tied off.
Swimming his way over to shore he slopped his way up onto the beach and stood straight dripping wet. Raising his hands in the air, he then swept them down over his chest and thrust out to his sides as all the moisture on his person shot out in a mist, leaving him dry once again. Walking up to the dock he eyed the one who was tying off the boat wondering exactly what this person had planned for this small part of the Kingdom. From the look of him he didn't seem to be a part of the Southern Water Tribe thankfully.
He wasn't sure of the guy had seen him or not so he decided to speak first. "Morning...." he murmured softly, cradling his blade unstrapped in his hand in a non-threatening way.

Pausing for a moment and counting the number of fish he had on his person, he found it best to grab a few more. Might as well have a little extra spending money just for the hell of it. There were enough traders in other regions, so not a single coin should go to waste. In his delay, he didn't even notice the man stepping up to him on the docks. The other voice in his head seemed to want out for a little while, but knowing the other's irresponsibility far too well, he dealt with it the only way he could for the moment. Humming a bit of a song and squeezing his eyes shut, he tried to force the other's thoughts out of his head. For now it seemed to work, but of course the bastard will eventually return and ruin his evening with some act of debauchery.
Knowing the shape of the dock well enough, he continued humming the tune with his small smile gracing his gentle features. That is until an unfamiliar voice spoke to him, catching his attention in an almost comedic fashion. The young man flinched and backed up a few steps and tried to stifle his whimper of surprise. It was rare that anyone ever spoke with him save for a few injured people and an inkeeper, meaning the fact that someone tried to get his attention in itself was enough to put him on edge. "M-morning! Sorry I didn't see you there!" Almost like a strange form of defense, he laughed nervously and tried to make himself seem as weak and harmless as possible.
With countless attempts to identify someone's origins based on looking at them, Kaoru didn't even try to evaluate this person. Nor could he tell if they were good or bad, but the tone of the man would lead that he was relatively harmless. At least friendly for the moment. Regardless, his voice shook a little as he spoke, trying to figure out what this stranger wanted. "I-Is there something I could help you with?" It had to have been something. Why else would this man try to speak with him? He was invisible every time he was there, so why did someone try now?

He eyed the man and his boat as he stood their waiting for a response. But as the man heard his words he seemed to jump in surprise and withdraw within himself . Kazuma raised an eyebrow and decided to play his militaristic role after the quite suspicious response from the man. "Dock inspection of the Grand Army of the Bulwark, courtesy of the Earth Kingdom and the other great nations. Papers please" he spoke sternly but still non-threatening.
He looked in the sky and continued to press on with some questions, "What might a man like yourself be doing in these waters Mr....?" he trailed off not waiting for a response, "This dock used to be used by marauders and thieves, was quite a dangerous place" he proclaimed.
He stepped further onto the dock eyeing the boat for anything that could give away any sort of hint that this was a rogue trader. There had been an actual string of vessels that have docked in with human trafficking recently in the smaller known ports. This one, probably being more known would never get that sort of attraction, but anything was possible.
"Perhaps I'm thinking too much into this..." he thought to himself as he glanced over the side of the boat, making sure not to set foot on it without permission. He then looked over to see a few of the townsfolk looking onward at them, peeking out their doors and windows. It didn't seem as thought it was in fear though, but legitimate curiosity. Interesting....perhaps this man has been here before then.
Turning about face to look the man in the eyes he stood fast and awaited the requested documentation with a look of determination on his face.

The stern tone made him shiver, but this man didn't appear too threatening. Sure, he was a Little intimidating, but that seemed to be his job. No one had ever asked for any type of paperwork before, as he supposed to have something stating that he was just another fisherman? No one ever really seemed to question his presence at docks despite all the chaos around. Should he have spoken with someone before? "S-sorry. I wasn't aware I needed any paperwork to dock here.." The backstory of the docks were unsettling to say the least. The place seemed so peaceful, so there was no way it was used by thieves.
There was no official way to tell if he could trust this man, unfortunately he was terrible at lying. He couldn't even make up an alias to save his life. Taking a heavy sigh, he spoke up to the other man. "Yuichi. K-kaoru Yuichi, sir. I promise I'm just a fisherman. This is one of my favorite docks because it's safe and quiet." The last words were spoken very quietly and fast, trying to get it out as quickly as possible without having a panic attack. All of this fear and worrying could potentially arise suspicion, although he was guilty of nothing.
"You can do a search if it'll ease your mind." The man asked for papers, something that Kaoru had never been asked for, or even considered. "I don't have any papers, b-but I can change that. Please don't fine me. I don't have a lot of money and the boat is all I have." Jail and fines, two things in this world that scared him enough to shiver but nothing else.
