Aiden stood in the center of a huge field, alone among the many rolling hills of the Wind Swept Hills, which was where he had been stationed since the rise of the Burning Legion. Closing his eyes as the sun slowly soaked through his crimson silk tunic. A slight breeze ruffled his white hair that fell just below his eyes, slowly lifting his face to the rising heat breathing in slowly taking in the scent of grass, and the slight smell of some flowers on the wind. Opening his eyes to the clear blue sky, turning in a slow circle his eyes scanning the surroundings, he was alone for the moment which was for the best, he’d rather not fail in great amounts in front of a crowd.
Taking the pack that he had carried with him, and setting it on the ground. The contents shifting slightly as he let the strap fall from his fingers. Sighing softly, and scratching his head while staring at the now opened pack. ‘Why the hell am I here again?.. Oh yea... Bosses order he wants us to ’Expand our arsenal’ … BAH! My arsenal is enough already’[/I] He thought to himself, kicking the back softly as he thought back to the most recent of meetings that had been called. The sounds of wood sliding against wood brought his focus to his new weapon of choice… Boomerangs… At the time it seemed like a very good, if not excellent and useful idea, now, as he stood staring at them Aiden had no idea where to even begin.
Crouching down he took one of the boomerangs in his right hand, standing slowly and getting the feel of the smooth polished wood in his hand. Tossing it straight up, his eyes never leaving the projectile as is flipped slowly in the air. Catching it in his left hand he ran his fingertips along its shape, the slight curve of it. Not too slight, but not too extreme either. As his eyes ran over it, Aiden started to once again see how a weapon of this design can be useful. It’s light weight, so it would be easy to use with his bending, but add a metal edge and not only will it be a more deadly thrown weapon, but also make a rather useful melee one as well.
Rolling his neck out slowly, Aiden tossed the curved weapon up again catching it with his right hand and throwing it out into the field. Watching as it flew all of about 10 feet then immediately dove straight into the ground… Placing his hands on his hips as he looked back down at the pile of many more at his feet, picking up two more he grabbed one firmly at one end. Drawing his arm back just slightly he whipped his arm forward, flicking his wrist slightly as if cracking a whip. The boomerang launched out of his hand, cutting through the air it spun its way forward. Turning around slightly, as a small smile played across his lips as he watched continue forward ’Well! That wasn’t too diffic-‘ [/i] The thought cut off as something crashed into his head.
Rubbing his head and looking for whatever it was that had hit him, narrowing eyes as he had found the culprit… The boomerang he had just thrown was lying at his feet. ’oh yea... didn’t think that one through..’ [/i] Sliding his toes under the boomerang, and flicking it up into his hand, gently running his wrist against the knot now taking form on his skull. After a few hours, both hands and arms covered in pretty purple bruises and now two sore shoulders Aiden had finally taught himself how to use the boomerang... sort of, which he had now considered the very bane of his entire existence. How something that looked and seemed so very simple to use, turned into needing to be some super genius to use efficiently he would never know.
Looking out over the field and the many boomerangs scattered all around him, he tightened his hand around the last boomerang. The smooth hardness of the would, biting into his bruised skin. Rolling his shoulder back to loosen the now aching muscles.
