Overall Personality; Tenjin is a perfectly normal little boy. He is a simple happy go lucky child and loves to play and have fun as much as any kid does. Neither complicated nor deep for his age he wears a smile almost all the time because he is in a good mood and doesn’t hold ill will towards any person unless they give him reason to. Like a normal kid he has a temper and does not enjoy doing things that he doesn’t like and will throw a fit when he’s angry. He knows almost nothing of the world beyond his home island of Kyoshi and as such thinks everything to be simple fun and games and good times all around. Though he is ignorant of what the worlds current state is he is adaptable and enjoys very much learning about new things and places and after living on an island all of his life, he has developed a love of meeting new people. All in all Tenjin is a happy, normal, friendly child with a temper who has a lot to learn.
As a young child he does not carry weapons because he neither used nor needed them in his life and relies strictly on his bending to help him. But he is very hesitant to use it, even if its something as simple as lighting a campfire, as his parents both have warned him that ‘It is not nice to use against people.’ Tenjin has never taken a life and never considered the possibility of such a thing as the event has rarely occurred around him. Death is not something the young boy is accustomed with and grief is something he has never known in his short life.
History Info
Home Country; The Earth Kingdom
siblings; None, yet.
history; Back in those days of relative peace when no one was trying very hard to kill one another, caution could be thrown to the wind with only a fear of meeting particularly hungry animals in the wilderness Akira; a woman of the Earth Kingdom, met a man, Jaya, while she was traveling through his home mountains of the Fire Nation. The two traveled for many moons together and found happiness in the company of the other and before long the two realized something. They were in love and immediately fought the feeling by fighting with each other.
As free spirits in the world, neither was ready to settle down and leave the life of adventure that they so loved and split from one another, but the call of love was stronger than the call of adventure and the two were within each others arms inside of a week. The two were traveling through the Southern Water Tribe when the idea wormed its way into Jaya’s head that he was going to marry her, and so he did. In the South Pole they were married and took their honeymoon on the road as they took a ferry up through the islands surrounding the area. However Akira discovered two important things while they were traveling between islands. First, war seemed to be becoming a harsh inevitability and traveling any further seemed to be a scary and uncertain thing to do. The other… she was pregnant.
The two traveled to the island of Kyoshi as their last stop and made their home there where, four short months later their baby boy was born. They called him Tenjin and raised him among the islands people who welcomed the new family as one of their own. The little boy grew up and the years seemed to fly by quite quickly as peace reigned over the island keeping a relative veil of happiness over them. Tenjin played with the other children of Kyoshi, laughing and playing. Nothing of particular note ever occurred in his life as he lived day to day and nothing more.
A break from the normal child’s life changed things a little for him on his fifth birthday when he threw a tantrum after hitting a child who made him angry. The boy fussed and yelled as his parents sent him to timeout for his punishment. As the boy walked around his room crying and fuming something happened that shocked him and caused him to cry further out of shock. Tenjin ran for his bedroom door and threw it open as flame engulfed the dry wooden frame from his hands. The fire did not burn him, but he was scared none the less and ran outside for his parents who watched with wide eyes as flames licked from the windows of their simple home. The village worked together to control the blaze and it was put out without any serious damage to the house. After this Jaya began teaching his son the art of Firebending, an art he himself had rarely used in the years since he and Akira had lived on the island.
At first the other parents on Kyoshi were fearful of letting their own children play with Tenjin after his display of bending due to his temper, but soon his parents assured the others that it would be alright. Jaya taught his young son to control his temper as well as breathing exercises to control his bending and began to even teach him bending abilities. The young boy picked up on it quite easily and was very proud of himself as was his father who trained with him almost every morning from the time he was six years old. The two grew close during the training and Tenjin saw his father as his hero and, like any child, wanted to be just like him when he grew older.
Time has its own way of doing things however and on a fateful day of course just like any other, Tenjin was playing hide and go seek with his friends. A ship which had been docked on the island for two days caught the boy’s eye as he was desperately searching for a place to hide and immediately went for it. He climbed down and into the cargo hold among the crates and sat on the floor giggling at how perfect his hiding spot was. Eventually the day wore on and he got bored and fell asleep due to the gentle rocking of the ship. As he dozed he heard some men shouting various things about sails and a gangplank and a heading for Chin Village.
Tenjin woke later the next and found the ship to be docked still, but his island had grown. He walked through the village and made friends with some of the local children whom he stayed with over the course of a few days. But eventually his childlike curiosity got the better of him and he hopped aboard a loaded merchant caravan on its way to Gaoling and joined the salesmen on their journey. The men and women welcomed the cute child and fed him, each giving him a place to sleep on different nights. Tenjin had fun with the people he had met, though he thought about his parents, wondering where they were on the big island and wondered when he would find them again, but he continues to train in his bending every morning as he would with his father, feeling that he’s there with him if he just keeps with the daily routine.
