The day was cloudy, and Koi had a few ideas in his head - ideas in terms of fancy moves. The arena chosen was that of a water bender's paradise, though he knew his opponent was more powerful then him, he thought an icy arena with the frigged lake covering about an an eighth of the arena on the left side would be an interesting challenge for him - and he was ready.
Koi dressed in his typical black leather jacket and a t-shirt he found laying at the bottom of his boat. His pants looked worn, but he didn't care. Both his dagger on his thy and the knife in his jacket where present, but he had no intention of using them. Lets have some fun with my bending today. I'm not the best with ice, so I'm gonna try and change that. He stood in the arena, patiently waiting for his opponent - he was early. As he waited the ice to the left and right of his feet rose and fell in a spiky manner - he could never just sit and wait, always had to play with something.
An anonymous figure entered from the opposite side. He couldn't identify the figure, but was confident it was female. He had never met this person before, and looked forward to getting acquainted. His bending was not fueled by anger of the ignorance today, but by his lust to get better at bending. Both fighters stood ready for battle at opposite ends of the arena, Koi waited for the right moment. The moment the silence broke, Koi was replaced by an ice platform that shot him high in the air. While ascending Koi bended a stream of water around himself. As soon as this water began circling around him, he began his fall. He fell straight toward his opponent head first, and on his descend he froze the water around him into a cushion if he missed, but a giant spike that hurtled toward his opponent at amazing speed. One thing Koi was good at - speed. And he did all of this in just a few split seconds.

Aryana was in a good mood today, she was heading over to the arena for a duel, she preferred to call it training though, and that's how she thought of any battle, they were all just training. The weather was beautiful and cloudy today, Oh if only it would just rain! She kept walking, seeing the arena in the distance. She had done something very unusual this time, usually when she entered a duel, she was always wearing some sort of mask, but this time around, she found no point in hiding her identity.
The weather had made her feel more alive, the rain would be even better, but, she could work around that. Today she was wearing a blue top that was tight around her so it wouldn't restrict her movement, black shorts and white flats. Her two necklaces where still around her neck, where they always are. Around her left thigh, she had her two sword handles and a water vile. She didn't put any effort in concealing her weapons either. Her hair was pulled back in her signature braid and her deep blue eyes fixated on the arena she was now entering.
It was an Ice Arena Perfect She smiled and looked at her opponent on the other side of the arena. Before she could even begin to comprehend a move he charged at her and in the blink of an eye, a spike was hurtling toward her at incredible speed. Hmmm..he's fast..but so am i. She simply touched the ground with her left hand and bended the water up in a quick swift motion freezing it to make a ice shield around her. Then as soon she was sure the attack had passed she let the ice fall in water around her and refreeze with the ground.
She couldn't help but chuckle slightly "Well, YOU sure don't waste any time, do you? That was very sneaky of you." She paused for a second, fixing a loose strand of hair back into place and then her face was completely serious when she looked back at him. "See, that was a good attack..but haven't you ever heard of the this phrase? Ladies first." At the last word she stomped her foot slightly against the surface and the ice plate that he was standing on shot into the air with him on it. With a swift motion, she took out one of her sword handles and held it in the body of water just to the right of her, as she pulled it back out, an ice blade as sharp and hard as steel had formed on it.
Quickly she ran up onto the side of a frozen ledge and jumped down heading for her opponent in a downward plunge, her sword positioned at his back, You aren't the only one who can play with ice..

As Koi hurdled down toward his opponent he noticed something different about his opponent then anybody he ever faced: She was not trying to conceal herself as many people normally would upon a first encounter. Just as fast as he noticed that he hit the ground that, surprisingly, was right on top of the enemy. After he let what remained of the spike fall to water off of him, he noticed that what he had hit was a dome of ice that surrounded his opponent. Quick thinking. Just as soon as the dome fell into water, and the lady rose to meet Koi she instigated a conversation. "See, that was a good attack..but haven't you ever heard of the this phrase? Ladies first." Before Koi could comprehend what she just said, she flung Koi into the air on an ice platform. As he ascended, he was able to realize what she said. Woah, thats hot. Just as fast as Koi flung upward, he began to fall. Realizing that his opponent had bended some sort of sword and was now hurtling down above him, he began to think of a counter attack.
Without thinking, Koi flipped his ice platform over so that his opponent's sword would hit that, instead of him. Koi hit the ground a few seconds before she did, and so he wouldn't sustain injuries from the landing he bended the ground down the milli-second he hit it. The enemy's sword quickly followed. The sword hit the ice platform, went through it, and grazed the side of his torso, leaving a small laceration below his rib cage. Koi threw the platform off to the right, sword and opponent in all, and stood up. "In proper etiquette, ma'am, the challenger goes first." With that his opponent arose and they exchanged a quick glance with each other. It had appeared that the platform had melted, but the sword blade had as well. "By the way, my name is Koi...you know, like the fish."

Aryana couldn't help but smirk as he flipped the ice platform over to avoid the hit. Well, I'll give him this..he sure knows how to think under pressure..They both started to descend onto the ground again, and she felt as he made a dent on the ice surface upon contact. Before she could she could pull her sword out, she was flung to his right and hit the side of an icicle that was hanging off a frozen cliff. The edge of the spike barely grazed her upper arm and left a small scratch there.
Slowly, she stood up, examining her sword, which was still in pristine condition compared to the ice platform that had melted around it. She exchanged looks with her opponent. "For a man with proper etiquette, i find flinging a lady into the side of a cliff extremely rude." She said calmly, face clear of emotions. At his last comment though, she couldn't help but laugh slightly, "Well, Mr. Fish, I am Aryana, cant say it's a pleasure to meet you though." She paused slightly, "Hmm..lets try something new.." She said quietly, mostly to herself.
At that, she proceeded to bending the water out of her ice sword with one hand and then as the water was floating around her, she put the sword handle back into its place around her thigh. She then waved her hand slightly around the water. All the water that was around her turned into a million little invisible icicles, and with one wave of her hand and a little smirk, she sent them hurtling toward Koi at incredible speed. Lets see how you get out of this one..

"For a man with proper etiquette, i find flinging a lady into the side of a cliff extremely rude." hahaha. "Well, Mr. Fish, I am Aryana, cant say it's a pleasure to meet you though."Mr. Fish...hmmm. Kinky. "Hmm..lets try something new.." With that Aryana bended some water out of the ground, she then froze and made it dissapear. Is that even possible? What is she up to? Koi knew something was about to happen, but he wasn't sure what. Aryana smirked and waved her hand the exact way a water bender would when flinging icicles. Koi knew something was going to happen. Out of instinct he stomped on the ground bending a sheet of ice between him and Aryana. As he began to hear tiny pings on the ice shield he thought to himself I knew it. This girl knows what she's doing, she'd be a good trainer. After the pings stopped, Koi lowered the ice shield. "Invisible icicles....wow. Very impressive I must say." Definitely better then anything I can do. He said this in his head not fully ready to open up to this remarkable bender.
Koi's next move was purposefully mediocre. He shot himself into the air and landed directly in front of Aryana. Upon impact he shot her into the air with his momentum, then bended some spikes out of the ground at her predicted landing point. He wanted this to be mediocre so he could see what the girl thought about training him, but at the same time kept it slightly original to show that he has potential. "So, Aryana. Thats an interesting name."

Right before the icicles hit Koi, he made an ice shield and blocked it. He has the potential to be a great bender..but he lacks training.. she looked at him and sighed. No more Ary..you don't want to take on another apprentice..too much headache..they never listen..simply not a fun experience. Plus..they tend to be stubborn..
"Invisible icicles....wow. Very impressive I must say." Her face portrayed no emotion at all as she simply said, in a clear voice. "Well Koi, that was the closest you've come to being polite since this battle began." Then almost instantly, he went in for another attack. Does this guy NEVER take a break?! She was shot into the air as he landed in front of her ~sigh~ she flipped through the air as she realized that there where spikes now in the place where she was supposed to be landing. Think quick Ary.
Instantly, she thought up a plan. She removed one of the water viles from around her thigh and started bending the water out, then grabbed it lightly and within a second there was a water whip in her left hand. She put the vile back in its place as she descended toward the spike and with the whip, she swung at the ice spikes, cutting off the edges and landing gracefully on her feet. "So much for being a gentleman. Alright, time to get serious." She bended the water from the spikes into another whip.
"Interesting huh? Well, I haven't heard that one before. Anyways..Think Fast Mr. Fish" She ran toward him at incredible speed and flipped over him slashing at him with the one whip from behind, then sidestepped and tapped the side ice platform slightly as a spike appeared below Koi. With that she Wrapped both whips around him, one around his arms and torso, the other around his neck and slowly started freezing the water. "Aww, look..frozen fish? not good." She said with a smirk.

After Koi bended up his spikes for Aryana to land on, he looked at her and noticed how fast she responded and was rather impressed. Damn."Interesting huh? Well, I haven't heard that one before. Anyways..Think Fast Mr. Fish" Aryana quickly bended a water whip to take out the spikes and landed gracefully on top of them. "So much for being a gentleman. Alright, time to get serious." Ooo, serious time. Before Koi could say anything Aryana had bended up another water whip and quickly froze them around Koi before he could do much strategising. Koi now stood frozen in a block of ice that was once Aryana's water whips. "Aww, look..frozen fish? not good.""Yeah, you could've made it looser around my neck."
Koi now had limited movement of his feet, and no movement of his hands, so it took time for him to thaw the ice. He began by thawing the ice around his hands, which took a moment or so, then he was able to use a quick flowing motion of his hands to bend the rest away. He exhaled: "It took a little bit to get out of that one, lets not do that again." With that Koi took a slight breath after quickly delivering several intensive attacks. After a slight breath and a quick smirk toward Aryana, Koi took the majority of the water in the pond resting next to them, and bended up a small wave, shoving right into Aryana's body. "Awww, you're all wet."

She smiled slightly as he started making his way out of her attack. "Well..you sure are determined to not give up eh?" she couldn't help but admire his strength, He really does have the potential to be great...then she shook her head, No...he will have to find another teacher. She smirked at his comment "It took a little bit to get out of that one, lets not do that again." Then she simply looked at him, straight face and all "Sorry, i cant promise that i wont use that move again."
In another quick movement he took the water from the pond and made a small wave at her, she purposely didn't avoid this, although she saw it coming. Lets see what you're capable of Koi.. She simply stood there as the water had splashed against her body and made her soaking wet. "Awww, you're all wet." with a small wave of her hand she simply started bending the water off of her until she was completely dry.
Ary stood there for a while, just letting the water flow around her "Hmm..No, i think your mistaken..im not wet but.." She used her free hand to unfreeze a nearby ice plate and with both the water from the pond and the new water that she had acquired she sent a slightly larger wave at Koi, freezing it as soon as it touched his body, "I think you are the one thats wet..well...frozen." Standing there and looking at him, eyes becoming a darker blue, Show me what you can do, damn it!

Again, Koi's mediocre move was quickly foiled by Aryana, showing that Koi still had much to learn. "Hmm..No, i think your mistaken..im not wet but.."Uh Oh. Aryana took more water then what he had used to wet her the first time and pushed it right into Koi, only this time, she froze it. dammit."I think you are the one thats wet..well...frozen."Koi now stood frozen in a big block of ice slightly shaped like a wave. Koi thought for a quick second about what he could do.
Realizing that he was near the top of the wave he, bended his arms room to move, and then within a split second he exploded the ice into water again. Just as quickly as all the water shot out, it shot right back in toward Koi to form a skinny, but tall wave under Koi. Koi used the wave to move over Aryana to look at her back side, wetting her again. "Sorry about that." Then, before Aryana could turn around, the wave exploded once again into thousands of icicles. A few of them falling astray in the wrong direction, but the majority hurtled at amazing speed toward Aryana, who hadn't the time to even turn around yet. What will she do neeeext!

Aryana just stood there waiting for him to find a way out of it, and as soon as he started bending the ice around his hands she nodded.'Good, he knows how to get out of tough situations.' she thought to herself. Then, instantly, he was behind her, and again, he bended a wave toward her. She simply sighed again and started bending the water again, not thinking to turn around.
Something caught her attention, there was a noise of a stray icicle hitting the ice plate next to her. 'Attack from behind huh, well, it might have worked..but hes impulsive.' Gracefully she leaped high into the air and back flipped, landing behind him noiselessly, freezing water around her fingertips and slashing at him like a knife, aiming at his injured side. Then she sidestepped and front flipped out of the way.
Standing up on the opposite side of him, she unfroze the ice around her hand and fixed a strand out of her face. Then she looked over at Koi, face completely serious, "Ok, that was a smart move, but, you will never win against me that way I'm afraid." she then crossed her arms '..i know he can do more..'

Hmmm, jumping over it. DUUH for some reason that didn't register in Koi's head when he delivered the attack. Now I still look worthless. Shit. He would have to take the fight to a larger scale, and get fancy...try new things, attempt things that might mimic Aryana, but he had no special attacks like Aryana did, and he needed a way to get an edge on this girl, or he was going to lose, and Koi would be trainer-less. Aryana jumped in the air to avoid the icicles, on her way down she landed directly behind Koi. Before he could turn around, Aryana slashing at his back with what looked to be ice claws on her fingers. Dammit I need to learn how to do this stuff. Before Aryana could do much damage to his back, Koi somersaulted forward with only a few scratches to the back. Ouuuch. Are you trying to kill me women?
Koi stood there for a moment and caught his breath, giving Aryana a chance to rest as well. During this time, however, he was mostly contemplating his next move and trying to ignore the new lacerations on his back. Its time to large scale. Koi stood there with his legs sprerad apart, and him bent down a little bit - he was in a stance. This move would be slightly above his bending level, but he was confident he could pull it off. For a moment Koi stood there, Aryana looked confused, but Koi knew what he was doing. The ground rumbled for a quick second and about a foot deep of the ice floor turned to water. Koi exhaled for a quick second and continued his move. He spun around and took most of the water with him, he used this water to rise above the arena and perch himself on top of a cliff above the arena.
This was the first time Koi got a good look at the outside of the arena. The arena was on top of a giant mass of ice. On one side of the arena was the northern sea, and on the other was hundreds of giant ice spikes covering the terrain for as far as the eye could see. to get Aryana out of the arena, he used whatever water he still had from his journey to the top of the cliff, froze it, turned to icicles, and shot it at Aryana. This time the icicles would hit the entire arena from above, Aryana would have some trouble with that one. Also, while the icicles where traveling, he used the theory he had for how Aryana turned ice invisible, and tried to rotate the water molecules as they fell toward her. It didn't work very well but the icicles changed color and density slightly - nothing significant though. Koi was very tired after that move, but he still had some fight in him.

Aryana was still not fighting as hard as she could, but she didn't want to kill the man, so she kept things fairly simple. His next question made her laugh a little, Ouuuch. Are you trying to kill me women? She straightened up and melted the ice claws off her fingers. "Koi, see you are slightly off there, If i wanted to kill you.." She smirked "You would've been dead in 5 minutes top."
After he sprang forward, it looked like he was resting. She decided to play along, stretching a little to give him his needed time for recovery. Nothing is really impressing me so far..well..except his determination. Right then, her eyes narrowed as she saw him take a stance, recognizing it instantly. He can't pull that move off...can he..? She watched silently as he completed the move, clumsily, but completed it nonetheless.
There was no time to congratulate him, as soon as he completed the first move he went on to the next. Suddenly a whole bunch of icicles went hurtling at her from the air in every direction. Now THIS caught her off guard. Shit..Wait...below! Instantly coming up with a plan, Ary smiled and bended some water below her feet and dove into the freezing water, making a water bubble around her so that the water wouldn't touch her.
She swam below the glacier's and emerged about 2 feet away from below. "Well, that was close." She planted one foot to the surface, crouched and swung her other leg gentle and swiftly across the center of the ice, turning it to water, then raised one arm as she slowly stood up on the wave, riding it up to the cliff where Koi was standing.
She stood there and looked her opponent in the eye. "Well Koi, i think the question here is, are YOU trying to kill ME." She paused slightly then crossed her arms. "Well, your move was slightly impressive, mostly I'm impressed that you even survived that without hurting yourself. Your stance is weak and you still have much to learn. I don't see why i should bother taking you in though." She stood there and dropped her hands to her sides, relaxed but still alert. Should i take him in..?..i don't know..

"Well, your move was slightly impressive, mostly I'm impressed that you even survived that without hurting yourself. Your stance is weak and you still have much to learn. I don't see why i should bother taking you in though." Yesss, she's thinking it too, now if only I can get her to say yes. Koi stood there, alert, but with a sense of excitement that he was able to get Aryana to consider training him. "Yeah my stance needs some work, but have you seen a beginner pull off a move like that? Yeah. Didn't think so. And I would be honored if you would teach me."
Koi was still in the middle of a duel, but he didn't want to continue to attack her if she was thinking about training him. But Koi thought letting her think would be a better method to take this time. He stood at the ready for an attack, even running through his head how he could bend up those claws Aryana made from before. "I think its your move at this point, since you've got the decision to make at this point." While he was waiting for something to happen he successfully bended, and froze, water around his fingers. The ice was sharp and it extended far past his finger nails, giving him those claws Aryana had from before. "Hey hey hey, looky here. Waiting on you, master."

Aryana still had her arms crossed in front of her chest. She shook her hear slightly at the mans first remark, "Yeah my stance needs some work, but have you seen a beginner pull off a move like that? Yeah. Didn't think so." She hated arrogance, but the second part of his sentence once again caught her attention, "And I would be honored if you would teach me." She thought for a second, ok...maybe not as arrogant as i thought.
She couldn't help but run through the pro's and con's of taking Mr. Fish in as an apprentice. Pro's: I get a training partner..and someone to boss around..Con's:...i get to see that annoying grin of his..every freakin' day..and if his arrogance shows up again..i might just have to kill him. In her head, the con's seemed to out weight the pro's..so why was she still thinking about it? ~sigh~
Once again, he impressed her...only slightly. She saw him imitate her ice claws, although they looked weak. Aryana dropped her hands to her sides and gave him a small smile. "Hey hey hey, looky here. Waiting on you, master." She looked at the ice claws, "Very good." ..she paused slightly, "Also very weak.." She walked over and broke off one of the pieces with no trouble at all. "Try concentrating more. You are too arrogant, that wont go too well with me."

"You're getting me excited. Does that mean yes.?" He wanted her to train him more then anything. Koi's skills aren't as up to par as he'd like them to be, after all, he was only a beginner. Aryana was good at water bending, especially with ice, which is exactly what Koi wanted to get really good at. He loved ice, and a trainer that specialized in it would be perfect. She called him arrogant. unfortunately its true, but Koi could learn otherwise, after all, what anxious new bender isn't arrogant? Koi could become very powerful through Aryana's training, and who knows, maybe he could teach her a thing or two as well.
Koi was slightly shocked that she was able to break one of his claws with just a small tap. He had thought they would stand up to anything, but again, he needs a lot of training. Koi stood there in front of Aryana with claws on his fingers except for one. He still wondered whether he should attack at all, but instead he decided to keep to dialogue. He didn't want to hurt his master. "My arrogance is expected, I'm excited, you must understand. And these claws. Damn, they looked fine to me, but I guess not." He let the claws fall to water off of his hands, but immediately he gave it another shot. He bended the puddle of water now at his feet back around his fingers. This time he concentrated on how he froze the water more then making them look bad ass and sharp. By the end he now had a knew set of sharp claws extending far past his finger tips. "Maybe these'll work better."
